Best Quest Idea Contest?
Anet seems to like competitions of one sort or another, so why not one for the best quest idea?
Many of the quests are completely forgettable rehashes of the core quest ideas (fedex, escort, collect, kill X).
Others, like the social quests in Nightfall (the trial, the party, the play), or some of the cultural reference quests (thanks a ton for a Blue Oyster Cult reference, Anet!) are entertaining in the extreme. Well, they are the first few times at least.
The devs have shown that they are creative, but they have also stated numerous times that they value player input on, well, everything. Besides, it isn't like they have a monopoly on creativity or something.
I, for one, would really like ch4 to be stellar, and something like this surely could not hurt.

The best quests were sadly condensed into presearing. Like either giving all three parts of rurik's gift to his guard or getting one and talking to althea. Or like in across the wall where you needed someone to pull the lever while someone else goes through. Nothing else is really that great, it's all just lame get this, do that, etc...

Sorry I know it is kinda criptic for those who do not have Profecies, but it would sure be nice to find that little brat once and for all.

Restoration of Ascalon
Yes, pre-Searing Ascalon had some really neat quests that required teamwork (such as getting the Rez Sig and that pulling lever-while the other went through).
I have spoken with a few other players about the idea of restoring Ascalon to her pre-Searing glory with favorable results. Maybe the transformation could be done in stages like in Nightfall -- a series of quests to essentially "build" the Command Post in Sunspear Sanctuary. There's the outer area where all players gather, and then there's the inner area that has been assembled by the player doing quests to get people posted there.
As for Gwen, yes, it would be good to see her again -- only by now she'd be how old? A young teenager, perhaps? I, personally, would like to see a traditional quest added someday -- the old "Rescue the Princess" quest -- the princess locked in the tall tower guarded by an evil dragon. Its a classic, but you don't see it in RPG games much anymore. And Gwen would be an ideal "subject" for such a quest.
And pushing the Charr back out of Ascalon territory . . . who would love to put those beasts back in their place?! Personally, I'm kind of tired of the whole undead, demonic hordes we are typically pitted against. Why can't we just have a military campaign against an organized enemy that isn't supernatural, like the Charr. Big, smelly, noisy Charr make good targets.
Let us rouse our allies from Istan, Vabbi, Shing Jea, Kurzick & Luxon, freed White Mantle, Deldrimor Dwarves, and Shiverpeak Centaurs -- marching on Charr-controlled Ascalon territory. Quests such as "greening projects" to restore the land to its once fertile condition.
Well, anyway, there's a lot of thoughts loosely connected, but I hope its fruitful for other ideas as well.
